In Your Face

James T. Owens
December 5, 1984 ~ March 25, 2005
20 Years Old

March 25th, 2005
James was a passenger in a car
driven by James Winfield of Reading.
The two were parked in the
500 block of Elm Street near Church Street around midnight.
A man approached Winfield's car and  spoke with the victim,
then entered the backseat of the car.

8 Years
is too long
To Wait for JUSTICE!
If you heard, saw or have any information about
James's murder
Please SPEAK OUT!

A National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims
A memory of James for the quilt.

The man pulled out a handgun and shot James  in the back of the head.
Winfield was shot in the buttocks as he tried to run from the car.

When police arrived they found James dead in the front passenger seat.

500 Block of Elm Street where James sat in a parked car

Police believe the gunman
ran south on Church Street.

Who was he?
Why is he walking the streets
with a loaded gun?

Did you hear someone talking about this crime?
Did you see the gunman running on Church Street?
Any information you have could help!
Who killed James?

Reading Eagle Article Dated March 26, 2005

This gunman needs to be removed from the streets. Please speak out and find Justice for James and his family.

James truly believed in the people he called
"friends". He believed....

James was not killed by someone who was trying to rob
drugs, he was killed because of the people he was with.

People who are friends, don't run from responsibility.

It is not "cool" to stay quiet about these crimes.

By staying silent you are letting these perpatrators
take over our community and take our young ones away from us.

This could have been my son or yours - maybe your brother.
James was layed back, quiet and loved to joke.
He loved kids and basketball.
No one had the right to take his life.
